Solzi the Moth

A short comic about a hungry moth who makes a pact with a strange, glowing worm in order to be able to eat again - but their only source of food is light given off by sources other than the Sun.

A purple moth called Solzi is running around in the void. "no! no"

"oh no no no NO"

"THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING! -A%$X-"

They look forlorn. "I should have forgotten appeite after being a larva... But I'm still hungry!"

"This won't fare well for the rest of my life... Is being an adult always so worrisome and difficult?"

Solzi looks at a glowing bush. "... What's this?"

"...wh -" The moth looks surprised as they pull apart the leaves to reveal a fat worm that glows bright green.

A pause. Then the worm's words squirm, quite literally inside the moth's head. "greet" appears in mind as they recoil, shocked.

Its words get louder and brighter. "YOU - HUNGRY CREATURE" as Solzi pleads for it to stop.

"I TOO HUNGRY - BUT CAN NOT MOVE"

The worm's words get quieter, but only so slightly. "hmm... a deal? symbiosis?"

"What say you?" it turns to Solzi, who is still in shock from the psychic link.

"Uh..."

"Can... can you explain less invasively and loudly?"

Finally, the chatter in Solzi's head calms down. "...better?" "Yes!"

"okay. simpler. I have mouth. You have legs, I can eat. You, no. but you can move."

It opens up its maw, revealing a mouth full of long, sharp teeth. "We... combine. You will not hunger, and I will walk."

The moth, pondering this, asks, "Any catches?" The worm responds, "Yes."

"You can eat only light."

"You can't eat the sunlight. Very harsh... AND you must share it!"

Its eyes squint up at the purple moth. "Agreeable?"

They shrug, "Sure, I guess. If that's all."

But the worm bares its teeth as soon as the words reach itself, growling and launching itself straight at the heart inside Solzi's chest.

"Wait, what are you AAAAAAAA"

A glowing green liquid splashes from their center.
